In a significant development benefiting Class 10 and 12 students, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has opted to extend the deadline for practical examinations. This decision comes in response to numerous requests from schools urging for an extension of the deadline. Moreover, schools now have until March 31 to upload the marks of practical exams, project works, and internal assessments for the academic year 2023-24.

The board’s notification, issued on March 9, highlights that despite several reminders, certain schools have not concluded practical examinations, project works, internal assessments, and internal grades within the stipulated timeframe. Consequently, these schools have approached the board seeking additional time to fulfill these obligations.

CBSE has also provided a subject list along with mark distribution to facilitate the seamless conduct of Class 10 and 12 practical exams this year. Notably, CBSE has allocated a maximum score of 100 for each subject, encompassing theory, practical, project, and internal assessment marks.

Reflecting on this decision, a school principal from the city remarked, “This decision is in the best interest of the students. Students facing health issues or other urgent circumstances preventing them from participating in the practical exams will benefit from this extension.”
